Every two seconds someone needs blood
No matter what your blood type, it is just the type needed for someone battling a life threatening illness or injury.
For more than 60 years, Houchin Community Blood Bank has saved thousands of lives through the generosity of volunteer donors like you. One pint of blood can save as many as three lives – four if you meet the needs of critically ill newborns. Donation is quick, simple and rewarding. All it takes is less than an hour of your time and five easy steps: Registration, medical history, quick physical, the donation itself, and snacks!
It takes about 110 donors each day, or more than 18,000 donors a year, to meet Kern County’s need for blood and to serve all the hospitals and transfusion centers in the county. While 60% of the population can give blood, only 5% do, so please consider joining our life saving team today. Everyday we show that people live when people give.
